Why a basket?

We saw that people were moving into   e m p t y   houses, like really empty.

Joy, a senior woman and her adult son Jason (who was also her caregiver) moved in with nothing. They were overjoyed to have a roof over their heads, but on a fixed income they didn't know how they would accumulate all the supplies they needed to thrive in their new housing. It wasn't a home yet, just a couple rooms.

We were so thrilled to be able to bring them a Welcome Home Basket, bedding, and beds. We were able to do this because our neighbors, people like you, donated money to fund this crucial piece of the housing puzzle.
